A resolution I have for the entire year this year is to really get my photography business back up and running.
It is often the highest point of procrastination in my life. I got my degree and then fell back into bartending to make money. Following getting my degree I moved to Key West, where I did some photography but not a lot.
I moved to Denver to get back into it but ended up working 20 hours a week in a gallery and 40 hours a week at a bar, so it again fell by the wayside. I quit the gallery to have more time to concentrate on my photography but then I started my master’s… I just realized I am rambling and rambling and just making excuses. The story goes on, I finished my master’s, started a gallery, closed the gallery but started doing social media management… etc. etc. etc. etc.
All in all, it just seems my photography is always pushed aside for other things and this year I have resolved to try and REALLY get back into it. So a few things on my list try and make that possible.
I already updated my resume. Now I am making a logo for my business. Other things I have coming up are hikes or trips where I will have the chance to take photos. Others are actually tasks to create. While others are tasks to show work in galleries or enter contests or create an Etsy page. By completing all these tasks I hope by the end of the year I will have gotten back into doing photography and maybe making some money at it.
So today I made this logo. I am not sure how I feel about it. My photography is not exclusively black and white, so I am not sure if this makes it seem like it is. Is it too simple? Too crowded?
Either way, it is a starting point from which I hope to have a final product soon. I have a copy of it out to some friends who also do design and photography work, so hopefully they will have some tips for me. But if any of you out there have some I gladly welcome them!
