June 2nd: Do Not Check Social Media for the Day

As a social media manager, which I am if I have never mentioned that before… it is pretty hard to steer clear of social media all day.

This was first thing this morning and I just had to refuse to look…

But not checking social media today all became possible since I spent the day with my nieces. Now that they are asleep I still have a hour and a half to go, but I think I can make it (spare this post as social media and more a catergorical memo).

I have a TON of notifications waiting for me but I cannot describe the amazingness and free feeling I got from not looking at anything today. I think my generation and most definitely, generations after me, have forgotten what it is like to unplug and just be in the moment.

However, strangely, it also maybe me uneasy and somewhat anxious. I feel disconnected and behind in my day. I scheduled a bunch of posts to go out today and even tomorrow for work, but not responding or answering questions, comments and likes makes me feel anxious.

For now, I just need to revel in the independence from it and think more consciously daily about letting messages go unanswered for a few hours of not commenting on things within 2 minutes.
