August 6th: Paint All Day

I had a very different idea of what this meant when I put this on the list for the year. I anticipated that it would mean fine art painting. But after buying a house that is simply not the case.

I spent today painting my kitchen. I am overjoyed with how the house is coming along.

Here are photos of my kitchen on move in day:

Now I have taken down some of the cabinets, painted the walls and painted the cabinets. Take a look:

The next exciting step is building these cool shelves to put up in place of the cabinets:

And, I have already picked out a color for the bathroom.

Owning a house is so fun!

July 16th: Host a BBQ

What a fun thing to do! Hosting a BBQ is quite the endeavor but such a fun time.

Owning my own house has been such an adventure and has enabled me to do so many things.

I decided to have a house party this weekend. My friend, Jared, bought me a grill as a housewarming gift, so no better time than to host a BBQ.

So many great friends turned out and we had a fabulous time. I think there will be many more of these to come at this house.

We had cornhole, a keg, some tired pups and a great group of friends!

Next time I will step it up and make some great BBQ!

July 9th: Go to a Comedy Show

I recently met a guy a work who is a a comedian and currently working on spreading the comedy scene around Denver. He wanted to know if we could put on a show in the venue… and we’ll, what a great idea!

We are doing it once a month, but today I had the great pleasure of hanging out for the comedians.

It was awesome. They were hilarious.

I think it is going to be a great experience once a month and hopefully we can get more people to attend!

June 25th: Run a 5K

This event meant so much more to me than simply running a 5K.

I did a 5K for Melanoma Research Foundation. I talked about it earlier this year when I decided to raise money for the group. But the experience today surpassed anything I could have expected.

I ran for me (I am a melanoma survivor), I ran for my friend Kelly, whose father passed away from melanoma, and I just ran for anyone that deals with this horrible disease.

It was a beautiful day. Our team had a great time and raised a lot of money.

June 20th: Hangout on a Rooftop Patio

This is probably the coolest rooftop patio in Denver to hang out on. The Tavern Rooftop Patio at Coors Field is so fun!

I went to a service industry tailgate party with some former coworkers from a different place than I work at now:

It was a really fun time! And the view from the rooftop is great:

Good times!

June 16th: Skip Rope

It is so funny how things end up differently than you might expect.

When I made this list there were many things on it that I expected to be one way and they end up completely different.

This thing for example, I expected to be a fun little task: skipping rope one afternoon. However, I guess that was a childish expectation. I reminisce about skipping rope as a kid and think about how fun and easy it was.

Today though, phew. We had to jump rope in crossfit class and it was not fun or easy! Perhaps because I am servely out of shape or maybe just because it wasn’t just a little skipping around, but either way… I won’t be doing that again anytime soon.
