I do not think I would call this completely unnecessary but I definitely could have gotten something cheaper or not as extravagant…
Anyway, getting to the point: I bought a Bissell SmartClean Robot Vacuum. Mia has always shed a lot but now with AJ in the house there is even more hair ALL OVER THE PLACE.
So I bought this vacuum and can not wait to use it!
This might not sound hard to some but I work for a pizzeria. There is constantly times when there is all kinds of free pizza everywhere.
So here goes! One month!
Well, everyone at work loves this! Such a simple task but a great gesture. Plus, it usually starts a ripple effect of other people buying the next few weeks.
I took the dogs to the park this morning and was out in west Denver. So in my way in I decided to see if there was a bagel shop on the way. I found a little spot so got a bag and some cream cheese to share with co-workers.
It was a great pick me up to start the morning. Only wish I could take the pups with me.
This was actually a spur of the moment happening but a great night. I usually close the bar on Friday nights but I was just feeling absolutely drained tonight.
I asked the other bartender if they would close for me and when they agreed I told myself I would go right home and rest for the night.
I should have known enough that I would not do that.
A few friends showed up that I had not really seen in a while just as I was about to leave. They wanted to check out a show in the neighborhood. So we went down to check it out but sadly, it was sold out.
We had all heard of this little jazz club around the corner, Nocturne, and decided to check it out.
It was a really great time. A very chill setting, we had some great appetizers and a few great drinks. A place I would definitely visit again but a time that can not be duplicated!
I do not even know if I talked about it often in this blog but I have a BFA in Photography. It has been far too long since I did a photo project or really focused on photography. A few years ago I did a 365 day project and have always wanted to try to get back into that.
So today I start a new photo project, this time with a twist.
I found this app called Mission: Pic. It gives you a theme or really just a word everyday to post a picture about or pertaining to that word.
I’m excited for this project because it is not just shooting to shoot. There is more to it. It gives you something to look for in your daily life.
I think sometimes I will post photos that I might have taken in the past, like today. The word was shiny. This is my photo:
Other days I will search out and post new photos. Hoping I can keep this project going for 365 days!
On other notes:
1. I am doing well on not using credit cards.
2. I woke up on time today and took the dogs to the dog park again.
Hope to keep these good trends going!
Working in a bar can sometimes create a very late schedule. I often wake up early but lay around trying to soak in some extra lazy hours in the morning. Starting today I vow to wake up at 8am and get out the door doing something.
It is a great week to start this since I just adopted AJ, my sister’s dog. So this morning I was up and on my way to the dog park by 8! We ran around, which I’m sure my dog, Mia, appreciated too.
I look forward to the next 6 days and hope I can keep a trend going from there!
As for the rest of my list I have a lot of catching up to do. Stay tuned and follow me for updates on the last few weeks, I’ll be adding in things that I got done or will be getting done retroactively.
One of my main goals for the year is to save money and pay off a significant amount of my debt.
I have great credit and by default, not learning from mistakes, I have a lot of credit cards with significant amounts available to me. Often this makes me say “oh I can spend that money, I’ll just put it on my card”.
The next month will focus on only using cash (actually physical cash and my debit card) instead of putting anything on credit. Hopefully this will help me lower my debt and make me more conscientious of spending habits.
Well, this was actually quite a surprise!
Unfortunately, my little sister’s dog, AJ, but my two year old nephew. AJ is twelve and they have had him for over seven years. Sadly, he had an ear infection that they didn’t know about and when they were playing AJ, being in pain, retaliated adversely.
He is such a sweet dog and was just in a lot of pain when it happens. Regardless, my sister felt she could not keep him around the kids anymore.
So now he is going to live with me!!
My sister lives in Tampa and my dad just spent three days on the road driving him out here!
Getting a new pet was on my list for the year and I cannot think of a better way to get one that to help one in need.
So I welcome AJ to my humble abode and hope Mia gets along with him.
Well, getting a Denver Library Card has already proven to be a little beneficial. I was looking through resources and there is even a section of videos to watch. There is not a ton, but a few to search through.
So, I searched through “Classic Movies” and came across On Golden Pond.
First, a classic movie made in 1981?! Seems wrong.
Second, Jane Fonda! She does not seem old enough to be in a classic movie. But I guess that just means I am getting old.
It was an interesting movie. Interesting to think about old age and death.
The thing I am excited most about it looking more into all the things I can explore on the library site. What a great resource!
Well, this was super easy.
If you live in Denver and have ever wondered about getting a library card all you have to do is register online to get these benefits:
• Place holds on (request) materials in the online catalog
• Download eBooks, Audio eBooks, Magazines and stream movies
• Stream and download local music from Volume Denver
• Search research databases
If you want a permanent card with more benefits you have to show a valid photo ID in a branch and you can get one with these additional benefits:
• Check out library materials – watch our video tutorial on using the self check out machines
• Request library materials from other library systems
• Use a Denver Public Library internet computer
You can find all the info and the link to online registration at this site: Denver Library Card.
It might seem like a trivial thing but any homeowner will tell you, when you buy a new home you expect to do a lot of thing. You expect them to happen right away, like it’s easy to just make a comfortable, organized and full home in a month.
I have lived in my house for 7 months now! Which, is so exciting… but day to day there are things that I look at and say “man, I really need to get this or that done, yet tasks always seem to fall by the wayside”.
One of my big things has been to hang a coat rack. Particularly, living in Colorado during the winter, I have 2-5 coats in rotation that I use on a regular basis. Typically they end up in a pile by my front door. BUT NO MORE!
I hung a coat rack today and like I said, though it may seem trivial, I absolutely love how much more organized and decluttered it makes me feel. Sometimes the smallest tasks are the best.
Since buying my house I always seem to go to Target or Walmart or some other store where I can get home goods, plants and home necessities. Often, however, I forget what I actually need or would like to make my house complete.
So today, I sat in my house (still sick 🤢), and looked around, thinking of what I want or need. Slowly, I made a short list and found things on Amazon that I prefer.
I do not use Amazon often, usually just to buy gifts for others, but I do think this is a great way to get my thoughts together and maybe put a budget together to start getting some of this stuff.
You can check out my list here. If you have suggestions of things to add or things that are like the items I have but better or cheaper, I’m all ears.
My social media positivity today was:
“A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.”
