January 21st: Read “The Art Spirit”

Well, my book reading is off to a great start. I finished “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” and have to say, it was a GREAT, easy and thrilling read.

As I browse through my list of other things to do this year I came upon, “Read ‘The Art Spirit’”. It was actually a book introduced to me by my art teacher back in high school… that I have to admit was 20 years ago 😮 oh how time flies!

I remember being assigned to read certain passages or sections of the book and always felt inspired. But it was high school and I had a seven class work load, so I didn’t often read for pleasure.

The book has been sitting on my bookshelf, untouched, since then!

I often see if and try to remind myself to read it. Many times I think, that book could build some inspiration to be more artistic on a regular basis. Maybe it is just what I need to inspire myself, artistically.

January 17th: Read One Book Every Month this Year

I feel like I have already jumped in to quite a few of the longer term goals I have on the list, which I typically try to hold onto a few for later in the year, but because this is a year long one, I suppose it’s time to jump into this one.

I bought this book today- Im Thinking of Ending Things– never heard of it but it said it was an international best seller, Netflix series and Reader’s Guide Book Club Choice – so it sounds promising.

If anyone out there has any suggestions for books later in the year, I would greatly appreciate it!

This is 2020! January 1st: Get Book Recommendations

Here we go! Excited to kick off 2020 and make a solid attempt to complete my list. Since 2017 I’ve made a list and attempted to complete as many of the 365 things. Once completed I cross them off. As the new year approaches I add new things so my list is full. Sometimes I add back in things I completed because of the way it enriched my life. This being one of them. I love asking for book recommendations and try hard to read at least some of them. So here’s ten that I got today!

  • 48 Laws of Power
  • Talking to Strangers
  • The Rituals
  • Love is a Mixtape
  • Black Hearts
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck
  • The Girl Who Drank the Moon
  • Flowers in the Attic Series
  • The Hearts Invisible Furies
  • Where the Crawdads Sing

I already ordered “The Girl Who Drank the Moon” and “The Rituals”! Excited to get them and begin this adventure!

January 7th: Ask Friends for Book Suggestions and Read Throughout the Year

So I did this last year and got a lot of responses, so I cut it at 10. I still have not gotten through all those books, and hope to at some point. But I might as well stack some new titles on top of those!

So here are the book suggestions I have gotten and where you can find them on Amazon! Maybe some of them will be good books for others of you too!

  1. Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
  2. The Beaten Territory by Randi Samuelson
  3. The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
  4. The Big Lie by Dinesh D’Souza
  5. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
  6. Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
  7. Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein
  8. Earth Children Series by Jean M. Auel (This one counts as the last three because it is a six book series!)

Hope if you can find some time to read something this year, you will give a glance over this list and give some a try. If you have already read some of these I would love opinions on them… which ones I should dive into first, which ones I might want to wait till later and any other comments you might want to share!

May 14th: Read in the Park

Another afternoon in the park… today just doing a little reading. I am still working on reading The Red Tent so today is getting me a little closer to actually finishing it.

It was a beautiful day. And Mia had fun too!

Between running around with Mia taking pictures, I probably did not get as much reading done as I would have liked… I guess I will have to start making this a regular thing.. maybe I will finish the book by the end of June. 😂

May 8th: Listen to an Audio Book

I found this awesome app: AudiobooksApp.

It has a ton of free audio books in all ranges of topics and genres. No big like New York Times Best Sellers, but still interesting.

I searched the Travel section and found a book called “A Lady’s Life in the Rocky Mountains”. I am still listening to it.

I love it! It gives great insight into early Colorado and Rocky Mountain living but from a woman’s point of view, which you don’t hear often!

I think I might actually buy the book though. I don’t really enjoy the audio book. I find myself not concentrating and getting side tracked.

February 9th: Explore Aromatherapy

This was definitely something on my list but suddenly has been thrown into my life and is pretty exciting.

My roommate, Tracy, bought a diffuser,

A book about essential oils,

And oils.

Tonight when I got home from work Tracy had “Citrus Bliss” going. It has some great benefits.

I am excited to start exploring this and think it could be something I explore all year long!

I am looking forward to exploring it for mental and physical benefits.
