January 31st: Hang a Coat Rack

It might seem like a trivial thing but any homeowner will tell you, when you buy a new home you expect to do a lot of thing. You expect them to happen right away, like it’s easy to just make a comfortable, organized and full home in a month.

I have lived in my house for 7 months now! Which, is so exciting… but day to day there are things that I look at and say “man, I really need to get this or that done, yet tasks always seem to fall by the wayside”.

One of my big things has been to hang a coat rack. Particularly, living in Colorado during the winter, I have 2-5 coats in rotation that I use on a regular basis. Typically they end up in a pile by my front door. BUT NO MORE!

I hung a coat rack today and like I said, though it may seem trivial, I absolutely love how much more organized and decluttered it makes me feel. Sometimes the smallest tasks are the best.

May 6th: Go Shopping just to Shop

Ask any of my three sisters… my mom… my dad… even my brother… I don’t shop. When I do, it is to get something specific and get out.

So as part of my things to do for the year, I added Shop just to Shop.

It might seem like a strange thing. And the plan was to spend no money. And I didn’t. I just kept thinking… I could buy this, but if I really needed it I would have planned a shopping day and went and bought it.

I almost felt uncomfortable. Not something I particularly enjoyed… just not enough of a girl I guess…

April 22nd: Buy a New Outfit including Shoes and Accessories

I am in no way a fashionista. And I don’t buy expensive things. But every once in a while you need some fresh new things to wear. So I bought new top, jeans, shoes, a bra, socks, earrings and even a new scent to wear. It will feel good to go into work one day soon feeling fresh and new.
