June 20th: Hangout on a Rooftop Patio

This is probably the coolest rooftop patio in Denver to hang out on. The Tavern Rooftop Patio at Coors Field is so fun!

Photo from MLB.com.

I went to a service industry tailgate party with some former coworkers from a different place than I work at now:

It was a really fun time! And the view from the rooftop is great:

Good times!

June 12th: Try a New Sport

Some may not consider this a sport, but after completing on CrossFit class today, I say pssshhhh to that.

It was so intense and difficult and rewarding and body crushing and body building… there are so many ways to describe this… but over all those things alone classify it as a sport to me.

So today was day one, but I signed up for a six week challenge. I am excited and scared and really just hoping I complete it.

I found the program on Facebook and am really pleased with the place that I found CrossFit Eminence.

The coach today was great, inspirational, dedicated, and very understanding of my abilities (or lack there of).

I can’t wait for the rest of the classes!

June 10th: Go to New Denver Central Market

Well, it is not really new anymore but definitely new to me.

I do not know what took me so long, because now that I have been there I just might be stopping in daily!

It is only 5 blocks from where I work and just an amazing assortment of things to eat, drink, take home, and buy as gifts.

It was kind of hard to pick where to eat and then even more difficult to pick what to eat once I picked the place.

But the very last place, SK Provisions had pork tacos and I couldn’t resist…

Clearly, they were good…

The best part: once you got your food you could go sit out on the patio outside or in the “dining room” in the main area. And if you are with friends, everyone can pick their food of choice and then all meet up to eat together.

I will most definitely be back and if you are in Denver you should try it too!

June 9th: Go to a Flea Market

Mile High Flea Market is HUGE! I wish I would have gone on a Saturday or Sunday because a lot of the booths seemed closed today… but it was still fun to walk around and browse.

They even have a farmers market but I didn’t really explore that. Leave that for another day.

But it did look like they had a good selection of fruits and veggies. TONS OF MANGOES. It must be mango season.

I bought a couple pieces of cute, and very cheap, jewelry. A hope braclet and a tree pendant.

I will definitely be going back on a weekend day and look forward to seeing a lot more stuff.

If you live in the Denver area , I highly recommend it.

May 17th: Sing in the Car

I actually do not drive that often and when I do it is pretty short distances, usually bobbing and weaving through traffic.

Today was a little different. I had a ton of errands to run so I was in and out of the car all day. I made it a point to enjoy the drive each time, cranking the radio and singing along.

It is a side note, and a sad one at that, that I really wanted to enjoy my time in my car while I still have it.

I have only had this car for a year and it got extensive hail damage in the last storm Colorado had about a week or so ago. I am still waiting to hear from my insurance company, but with the amount of damage it has, it will probably be totaled out.

I cannnot complain too much… it is paid off and I should get a nice amount for it to buy something new and exciting!

Regardless, today I got to drive him around and sing at the top of my lungs… 😂😎

May 16th: Do Something Touristy

Living in a large city there are so many touristy things to do, but when you live somewhere like that tourist things after fall by the wayside.

So as part of my year I wanted to make sure I did something that I might not often think of doing.

It helped that my friend’s, Jared, mom was in town because she wanted to go and I got to tag along.

So in case you are in Denver or visit Denver soon, here’s some info on how to Visit the Mint.

You have to arrive at 7am to get tickets to one of the four tours. We got tickets to 12:30  so we went and had breakfast at Sam’s No 3, also a very touristy place…

The actual mint tour was interesting. Nice to learn a little Colorado and US history.

All in all it was a nice day. Very different from a normal day at home.

May 14th: Read in the Park

Another afternoon in the park… today just doing a little reading. I am still working on reading The Red Tent so today is getting me a little closer to actually finishing it.

It was a beautiful day. And Mia had fun too!

Between running around with Mia taking pictures, I probably did not get as much reading done as I would have liked… I guess I will have to start making this a regular thing.. maybe I will finish the book by the end of June. 😂

May 13th: Walk Barefoot in the Park

This task might be a little dangerous in Denver due to the obscene amount of geese in the parks these days but lucky for me the park near my house is pretty clear of geese, meaning no worry of all those droppings.

So today was just a nice afternoon to walk barefoot in the park. Of course I brought Mia along and she had a blast running around. She is now sleeping very soundly.

May 11th: Write a Fan Letter

So when I came across this thing to do there was no other person/group/celebrity to send a letter to than The Revivalist. The letter describes my love for them… you can read it below… One of my tasks earlier in the year was to go to a new music venue, I went to see them. They are amazing. If you haven’t heard of them you should check them out. If you like them you should go see them live… they are more amazing live!

“Hi Revivalists,

I just wanted to put out there how much I love you guys. It’s been a while since I have found a band that I connect to so much!!
I work at a small pizzaria/music venue in Denver and always create playlists for customers to listen to… I had asked a regular for some good new music to add to the list last Fall and she told me about you guys after she saw you at a festival up in Buena Vista… I’ve been hooked ever since.

I had the chance to see you in December at the Fox Theatre and then at the Ogden in February!

I look forward to seeing you guys again at the Westword Music Showcase!

Thanks for the great music! Can’t wait to hear more.

Big fan,

Megan”

March 27th: Eat Dessert from a Fancy Bakery

Some things we do for ourselves are for our health. Others for our sanity. And others for our careers. Some for our families or friends. Or our pets.

But some days we just need to do  hints for ourselves that is just because. Just for us. Just to make our day a little happier.

Today was one of those days. I found this cute little cupcake bakery, Happy Bakeshop, in the Highlands.

I had two delicious cupcakes… that is right TWO.

One was banana nut with peanut butter icing and the other carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Both yummy!

March 26th: Apply for a Job That Seems Out of Reach

So far this year I have done some great things! A few of them get me closer to completing other tasks. For example, earlier this year I updated my resume.

So toady, that makes it a little easier for me to apply for a new job that seems out of reach.
I am not necessarily looking for a new job but I do believe it is always good to keep options open. Plus, it is always good practice to apply for jobs to keep those skills alive.

So I happened to come across a job listing for a Marketing Coordinator for a brewery in Colorado. For the most part, the job description is what I do now, minus bartending 40 hours a week… so it could not hurt to try. And it is pretty much what I dream about doing. How can I not go for this?!?

And just so you all know, I did not win the lottery a few weeks ago when I bought a ticket… 😂
