June 1st: Take a Mini Vacation

This is much needed!!!

I arrived in Indianapolis where my sister, Nicole, and her three kids and husband live. It is going to be a quick 6 days but I am excited to be away from work and spend some time with these little ones… (plus one more not pictured)!

We have so much planned. An afternoon in the park, then my sister and brother-in-law go to Chicago for a concert while I watch the little ones… art time, movie and snacks, ice cream, Auntie sleepover… it’s going to be a blast. Then, weather permitting, Latern Festival (which is on my list and sold out in Denver!!), Wonder Woman movie day, soccer game with my sister’s league.

It’s going to be a fun filled packed few days but great!

May 28th: Swing on a Swingset

The oh so simple things are some of the best things to grasp onto. This however, did not pan out like I thought it would… it made me nauseous. Hahah. I guess I’m just not a swinging type of person anymore.

Either way, I have it a go and know for the future that it is not my thing. I did get to sit in the park again though and just relax… since I wasn’t swinging.

May 17th: Sing in the Car

I actually do not drive that often and when I do it is pretty short distances, usually bobbing and weaving through traffic.

Today was a little different. I had a ton of errands to run so I was in and out of the car all day. I made it a point to enjoy the drive each time, cranking the radio and singing along.

It is a side note, and a sad one at that, that I really wanted to enjoy my time in my car while I still have it.

I have only had this car for a year and it got extensive hail damage in the last storm Colorado had about a week or so ago. I am still waiting to hear from my insurance company, but with the amount of damage it has, it will probably be totaled out.

I cannnot complain too much… it is paid off and I should get a nice amount for it to buy something new and exciting!

Regardless, today I got to drive him around and sing at the top of my lungs… πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ž

May 11th: Write a Fan Letter

So when I came across this thing to do there was no other person/group/celebrity to send a letter to than The Revivalist. The letter describes my love for them… you can read it below… One of my tasks earlier in the year was to go to a new music venue, I went to see them. They are amazing. If you haven’t heard of them you should check them out. If you like them you should go see them live… they are more amazing live!

“Hi Revivalists,

I just wanted to put out there how much I love you guys. It’s been a while since I have found a band that I connect to so much!!
I work at a small pizzaria/music venue in Denver and always create playlists for customers to listen to… I had asked a regular for some good new music to add to the list last Fall and she told me about you guys after she saw you at a festival up in Buena Vista… I’ve been hooked ever since.

I had the chance to see you in December at the Fox Theatre and then at the Ogden in February!

I look forward to seeing you guys again at the Westword Music Showcase!

Thanks for the great music! Can’t wait to hear more.

Big fan,

May 5th: Make Cookies from Scratch

I remember when I was little I used to make cookies from scratch all the time! I used to love it and often my moms friends would ask me to make them some too! I was the neighborhood baker.

It has been a while since I made cookies and I have to say it was quite reminiscful. Although I forgot that I used to make them in Florida and today (obviously) I made them in Denver… I forgot to change the recipe for altitude so they came out pretty flat, but they still taste delicious so that’s all that matters.

I ate one… so now I have lots to take to work with me!

April 26th: Watch the Sunset

Because of my work schedule it is not everyday I actually get to see the sunset. I am usually in work, inside, by the time the sun is going down…

I remember when I was in my late teens early 20s, still living in Florida, and would watch the sunset EVERYDAY. Even when I was working in a restaurant and we were getting slammed, we would all walk outside and watch the sun go down.

Living in New York, the college years, I often watched the sun come up. But that us all I will say about that… πŸ˜‚β˜ΊοΈ

Next, was living back in my hometown, where I worked as a sunset family photographer… I saw more sunsets that summer than was probably desirable. You get kind of jaded when you go down to the beach EVERY NIGHT to watch the sun set over the white sands and emerald green water of the Florida panhandle.

Before Colorado, I lived on Key West. They literally have a “SunsetCelebration” EVERYDAY. The sunset becomes part of your daily routine. You know exactly when it is going to happen, what the weather will be like, and how many people you will have to crowd with to see the “western most sunset on the east coast of the US”.

Anyway, as you can see, nearly all my life has been centered around sunsets… enjoying them, working them, or just being present… I mean, we are all here, alive, and can watch the magnifigance that is our planet and solar system everyday,

For some reason since I have been in Colorado, all that has gotten lost. Today, not even planned I happened to just watch the sunset over the mountains. It was a gorgeous sight. And strangely I isn’t even take s photo. Because really I was just there to enjoy it.

I hope everyone can find the time in there week, every once in a while to just sit and enjoy the sun go down.
