Don’t judge me. I had never seen The Shining. I always knew the premise and even many of the famous parts but I had never seen the movie from beginning to end.
So this morning, I thought, what better way to kick off my morning than to watch a horror movie… 😂
It was not as scary as I anticipated but maybe that was the problem, I knew what to expect. I knew many of the scary parts and when they happened they weren’t shocking to me. I do think the creepiest part is Danny and his imaginary friend.
I also have on my list to visit the Stanley Hotel this year, which I think will be much more exciting now that I have seen this movie. It will hopefully add a spookiness to the experience.
Well, getting a Denver Library Card has already proven to be a little beneficial. I was looking through resources and there is even a section of videos to watch. There is not a ton, but a few to search through.
So, I searched through “Classic Movies” and came across On Golden Pond.
First, a classic movie made in 1981?! Seems wrong.
Second, Jane Fonda! She does not seem old enough to be in a classic movie. But I guess that just means I am getting old.
It was an interesting movie. Interesting to think about old age and death.
The thing I am excited most about it looking more into all the things I can explore on the library site. What a great resource!
This mini-vacation has been filled with kids stuff… maybe that’s why I was doing swing on swingset, skip, no cursing leading up to the week. I just have been feeling my inner child bursting to get out.
So I guess it is only appropriate that I check off Watch a Disney Movie this week too.
It is funny, when I was making the list of 365 things back in December I put certain things down and had a certain expectation of what the experience would be when I got to it. Very rarely was I right.
The expectation for this was on a sick day, or a cold winter day, I would be stuck inside and in the comfort of my room I would watch a classic Disney movie that I hadn’t seen in a while.
Instead, and to my delight, I watched a Disney movie I had never seen, with my Indianapolis nieces, having a movie night filled with popcorn, candy, ice cream and sleepover.
It was a fun night and hopefully a memory both I and they will cherish.
I suppose the last few days have been filled with movies. It has been interesting to see some classics. Quite a difference between Casablanca and Schindler’s List but both so great and historic in their own right.
It is interesting to compare and contrast the differences in people’s experiences between the two… and although I had no intention of comparing them, it’s interesting that they are comparable.
Anyway, always just lovely to sit down and watch a movie.
Who knew that there was a whole website out there with HUNDREDS OF FREE DOCUMENTARIES?!
Top Documentary Films
It has films on basically everything. It was actually really hard to choose, even just a category. But I went with the environment because it is such a large concern these days. And then just choose a random one: Planet Ocean.
It had beautiful imagery and some great information.
All screen shots from the film.
Sometimes it felt a little off topic, but they pulled it all together pretty well in the end.
I definitely think it is one of those things you have to experience at some point in your life. But after the John Wayne movie earlier this year I think I prefer that… evidently King Fu movies just are not my thing.
I watched Enter the Dragon because it was recommended as one of the best Bruce Lee movies. Maybe I will have to watch another one to get a full understanding of the genre.
