January 17th: Read One Book Every Month this Year

I feel like I have already jumped in to quite a few of the longer term goals I have on the list, which I typically try to hold onto a few for later in the year, but because this is a year long one, I suppose it’s time to jump into this one.

I bought this book today- Im Thinking of Ending Things– never heard of it but it said it was an international best seller, Netflix series and Reader’s Guide Book Club Choice – so it sounds promising.

If anyone out there has any suggestions for books later in the year, I would greatly appreciate it!

January 14th: Grow Something

I know, I know, there is no excuse. I have fallen quite far behind. Some days I think about what I can do for the day and then I get an overwhelming feeling because I have fallen behind. But now I just have to get back on track. It’s not even February yet!

So, for the 14th I am attempting to grow something. I got this little tip that if you take the butt of your celery after you have cut off the good stuff you can put it in water and re-grow the celery!

So I put it in water and it has already started to sprout a bit. Very exciting, maybe in a week or so I will have some celery!

January 7th: Purge One Item Everyday for a Month

I do this every year and it is always a nice start to the year. Clearing out old things, decluttering and sometimes finding things I forgot I had that I want to hold onto.

I already threw out a bunch of old clothes that were torn or ruined from work. It felt nice. I got a rod of some old kitchen utensils and will have to purge something again today. I have a few big things in mind that I have been planning on getting rid of for a while and just never get around to it. But soon enough.

The best part is, it makes room for new things.

January 4th: Take a Leisurely Drive

Sometimes I forget what a beautiful state I live in but today was a great reminder of how beautiful Colorado is.

I took a drive up to lookup mountain and made some stops to take photos. It was very relaxing (other than the fact that I was freaking out that I was driving on the side of a mountain with little barricades).

I got my 365 days of photos in:

Lookout Mountain, Colorado

All in all- such an easy task. And so relaxing!

March 2nd: Go on Vacation

Holy moly! It’s been a crazy beginning to the year. As I say many times over the course of the year I’m working on playing catch up with my 365 things. But this week is time to slow everything down, enjoy and cross some things off the list that are incredible and amazing experiences.

Go on Vacation should be an easy one to check off but I very rarely have the opportunity. But oh my, I’m headed to Maui today! Yes, Maui!

Here’s a little glimpse of the Rocky Mountains as I fly over them to head over! I can’t wait to check off some many other amazing things over the next week as I experience them in Maui!

January 20th-26th: Catching Up

As happens most years after the initial romanticism of the new year starts to wear off it gets harder and harder to maintain things on a daily basis. Today I am going to try and catch up on things I’ve been doing and make a plan for trying to be more successful the rest of the year.

January 20th: Potty Train Bella

Of course, this has been an ongoing challenge and will probably continue to be a challenge for a while but she is pretty close to being completely potty trained.

We have had no accidents in the house at night, she tells me when she has to go outside for the most part and she never goes in her crate.

January 21st: Go to an Arcade

Well, this was a fun one. Especially because here in Denver (as I’m sure in other cities) we have a bar/arcade for adults! Giant PacMan, Skee-Ball… the list could go on for quite a while.

January 22nd: Take Dogs to Dog Park Regularly

This day began what I hope can be a year long endeavor. I was not sure how Bella would do at the park but it was a pretty fantastic experience.

She played very well with the other dogs and ran around for a while hour, which tired her out, so bonus.

The best part was Mia really got into it too. Mia is ten. I used to take her to the park all the time. In the last three years when we would go she would just stand there and not play. Strangely today she played like crazy! It was great to see some youth still in her.

We got home and they were the best they have been with each other since I brought Bella home. They even sat with each other waiting for treats.

I look forward to taking them to the park lots this year. Hopefully, Bella will keep Mia young! ❤️🐶

January 23rd: Have a Star Wars Marathon

Now that episode 9 is out, which of course I’ve already seen (because I’m a huge Star Wars fan), I feel it’s a good time to revisit all the movies. I started on the 23rd with Episode I and will continue to watch them all over the course of the next month.

January 24th: Research Land for Sale in Western Colorado

Wow! This is not what expected. There is so much beautiful land out there and it is not that expensive.

I found this site: BillyLand.com.

I am in no financial situation at this time to buy land but it is something I think of often. I love living in a city but I think later in life I would like to live out in the open. Hopefully in the next ten years I could put some money together and purchase some land and build my own little home.

It is definitely a long term dream but after doing this little bit of research, I feel a little more confident that it could be a possibility one day.

January 25th: Sleep in Bed Every Night for a Month

I love adding new monthly challenges! Of course they are always hard to maintain but give me something to focus on daily.

I have been shooting apple cider in the am and I have not had a soda since the 19th.

Now I add this. I too often watch tv late at night and end up falling asleep on the couch. The next month will be about consciously making an effort to sleep in my bed every night.

January 26th: Do a Kind Deed

This one almost feels like cheating because I would have done it regardless if it was an item on my list but maybe that is better than simply doing it because I feel I have to.

My friend got stuck at work today for an extra 8 hours so I went and walked his dog for him.

January 17th: Try a New Resturant

So there’s been this little hole in the wall on Colfax in Denver for a long time, called Bourbon Grill. Back when I moved out here 8 years ago many of my friends frequented it. Everyone always raved about it.

They recently moved into a little bigger of place down the street. So I decided to check it out.

It was good. Definitely a great value. I would not rave about it but it might have changed a bit when they moved too.
