January 19th: No Soda for a Month

Here we go. I’ve been eating breakfast regularly, drinking apple cider vinegar every morning, taking vitamins! I lasted the week long that I challenged myself to for those challenges and even still continuing them the best I can. But now I am adding another- no soda for a month (I will still drink soda water) but no sugary colas.

January 9th: Shoot Apple Cider Vinegar Every Morning for a Month

Let’s see. I already have a few extended challenges going on.

Starting on the 5th I stated I would come home every day after work directly to spend time with the pups. I have had one hiccup but it was because Bella was a work with me and everyone wanted to meet her. But no more excuses. Directly home!

On the 6th I said I would eat breakfast everyday for a week. So far, so good! I have been eating breakfast everyday. Even woke up to make those delicious pumpkin muffins yesterday. I notice I am more hungry around noon than I normally would be. Everyone keeps telling me it is because my metabolism has been kick started.

So today, the 9th. I am starting to do a shot of apple cider vinegar every morning.

I have always heard there are many benefits to doing this and found this informative chart on Very Well Health.

So for the next month I will be shooting some of this every morning. I have tried it in shot form and adding it to a glass of water. I feel it is easier to just shoot it than drink a whole glasses of it diluted.

Here’s to keeping up!

January 5th: Go Home Directly After Clocking Out for a Month

Yesterday was a big day! I checked off a major thing- I got a dog! A puppy to be completely accurate. She’s doing great. The next few months will be challenging as she accumulates to the house, understands my other dog Mia and learns all her training.

I’m excited for the adventure and decided this is a perfect item to kick off today.

I am a bartender so there are many days when I get off and sit down to have a drink with friends after shift. With a new pup in the house I know how important it is to be home with her as much as possible.

So, even though I am off work today, I will kick this off starting today and leave work directly after clocking out until February 5th… and of course I will try and continue that into the year… but baby steps!

Plus, it will give me extra time to start on that reading list I created on the 1st.

P.S. I used the cute picture of my sweet new pup, Bella, just to draw you in.

February 7th: Walk 20 Minutes Everyday for 30 Days

Well, here is another longer period challenge!

Before I moved into my current house I walked everyday, at least twice a day. I did not have a backyard, so I had to take Mia out at least that much. I have gotten rather lazy since moving into a house with a backyard over a year ago… and it is time to change that.

Mia enjoys her morning time in the backyard, often runs the fence line with the neighbor dog, and basks in the sun (when it is out and not freezing). But I know it is time to make a change, get up and moving, and make sure to take significant walks everyday.  To start that, I will be walking everyday for the next 30 days for at least 20 minutes.

Today we did FOUR miles in an hour and 20 minutes. It would have been much faster if Mia did not have to pee, poop, and smell things every 2 minutes…

In addition to this goal I just want to express that I am also doing a fundraiser called Run Ranger Run

It is a great fundraiser to help raise money for veterans. You can help veterans out too by donating to my team! Just go to CrowdRise.com choose my team “GCE – Getting Closer Everyday” and then choose me, Megan Tutin! Any donations go directly to GallantFew, a charitable organization that has the mission “To facilitate a peaceful, successful transition from military service to a civilian life filled with hope and purpose.

Our team is dedicated to run/walk/bike 565 miles by the end of February (there are 10 of us!).

Thanks for any donations. Veterans and veteran families thank you!

On a side note, I ate meat Sunday… so I guess the vegetarian run is over. But I definitely feel like I felt healthier during that time so I plan on concentrating more on eating that way, just with meat every once in a while.

Today is day 7 of no alcohol, but technically only day 6 because I took Super Bowl Sunday as a cheat day. I feel more productive… I finished knitting a baby blanket for a baby shower I am going to this week, I am almost on to my second book on my list, and I think I will be finding it easier to get up and do my walks/runs!

So far this year is shaping up to be pretty great. Making this list and actually holding myself accountable to it feels good.
