February 17th: Explore NASA Archives

Wow! Wow! Wow!

This was so awesome. I got lost in this website for quite a while.

Here are some of my favorite images.

The only thing that surprised me is that some images are “artist renderings” or “artist creations” and not just factual or direct representations of things. I would think NASA would be a little more scientific. Still, the images were really cool to look at… and I migh have learned a little about stars, galaxies, and black holes.

You should check out the site too!

February 12th: Color in a Coloring Book

Ahhh. This was so relaxing. Random how such a small, simple thing can be so destressing. I need to do this more. It is no masterpiece but really not the point…

There is a great article on ColorIt.com about benefits of adult coloring and I believe it.

Here they are:

1. Your brain experiences relief by entering a meditative state

2. Stress and anxiety levels have the potential to be lowered

3. Negative thoughts are expelled as you take in positivity

4. Focusing on the present helps you achieve mindfulness

5. Unplugging from technology promotes creation over consumption

6. Coloring can be done by anyone, not just artists or creative types

7. It’s a hobby that can be taken with you wherever you go

So maybe grab some colors, buy a book or print some pages out, and destress. πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨πŸŽ¨

Mia and I have been doing our 20 minute walks everyday and no alcohol goes on! 😎

So that is for the day. πŸ˜‰ More to come tomorrow.

January 13th: Make Chalkboard Art

Well, this was not exactly what I had in mind when I added Make Chalkboard Art to my list, but it definitely fits the category and was more fun than just writing or drawing on the board (which I still have to do at some point anyway).

So the last few days I have been working with a refurbished home store down the street from where I work. I went through bins and bins of old frame pieces they had and pieced them together to make one big frame. I painted the wall in the bar I work at with chalkboard paint and then hung the frame around it.

The bar I work at is changing our beer menu drastically and the taps will be rotating to a different beer every keg, so we needed a spot to write them so customers could see and know when we have something new!

This is going to be so cool!

It actually turned out better than I could have hoped! This weekend I will actually be writing in the content to fill the chalkboard.

Here’s some other photos I took to get an idea of how it looks a little closer up.

I’ll post a picture sometime later to show the writing in there too!
